This test is performed during a Gastric Sleeve procedure, where our Pathologist will take a sample from the recently cut stomach part. This is to find out if the patient’s gastric wall contains a dangerous microorganism called: Helicobacter pylori.
The World Health Organization has associated this direct carcinogen with being associated with pre-malignant lesions such as Atrophy, Metaplasia, and Dysplasia.
With the early finding of these inflammatory changes or pre-malignant lesions, your physician can develop a personalized treatment plan for you.
